WITNESS APPEAL AFTER ATTACK

A RAIL passenger who confronted a group of rowdy men during a journey through Cuddington has been left nursing an injured eye.

British Transport Police officers are appealing for witnesses and information after the 35-year-old victim, from Chester, was assaulted at about 1.15am on Saturday, July 22.

The man was travelling on the Chester-bound 11.08pm train from Manchester Piccadilly at the time.

The spokesman said: "A group of three males got on to the train at either Altrincham or Stockport station and throughout the journey are described as acting in a loud and disorderly manner.

"It is believed they were also with a female."

The victim was threatened by the group after complaining about their behaviour and as they left the train at Cuddington, one of the men punched him in the face causing a black eye and a cut eye which has resulted in a loss of sight.

The man who carried out the assault is described as white, aged 18 to 20 with fair hair. He was wearing blue jeans with a white or turquoise T-shirt.

It is thought he had his left eyebrow pierced.

His companions were white with short fair hair, aged between 18 and 20 and were also wearing blue jeans and T-shirts.

The woman was of the same age.

Anyone with information should call British Transport PC David Rams on 0800 405040 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
