Nightmare is over as little Gypsy gets the all clear

A THREE-week nightmare has come to an end for the parents of little Gypsy Mellor after tests revealed that she does not have leukaemia.

The tot lives just a few doors away from Rebecca Watts and yards away from Sharon Pymer, both of whom died from a rare aggressive form of leukaemia.

An investigation is currently under way to find if the two deaths are linked.

Gypsy had been showing similar symptoms to those displayed by Rebecca and Sharon prior to the deaths including anaemia, lethargy, loss of appetite and clinginess.

Her parents Charlotte Doyle and Billy Mellor, who live with Gypsy, Billy, two, and Charlie, five months, in Muirfield Close, had feared the worst.

Now there is only relief as cancer specialist Dr Russell Keenan has given the 18 month--old the all clear at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool on Monday.

Her mum Charlotte said: "We are just so relieved. It has been an absolute nightmare.

"Dr Keenan had the blood tests in front of him and said there was nothing there to cause him concern.

"He thought it may have been an infection that children get where they show similar symptoms for a couple of weeks and then it cures itself."

Meanwhile a team has been taking soil samples and testing for radiation and methane around a small area in the Muirfield Close area.
